I’ve been doing my usual dilly-dallying about my OLW and I thought I had finally found it. But “We Are All Weavers of Words” shed new light on my search. After I wrote my first March Challenge post yesterday and realized how I make my way in the world, I knew I had to adopt “weave” as my OLW. Here’s why.
I weave threads of my life every day. Some of us call it multitasking. I think weaving sounds gentler and more creative.
I weave words that I write every day whether its emails, texts, the occasional poem or posts I am working on.
I weave friends into my life as often as possible. I am a very social person and enjoy friendship time.
I weave quiet times into my life as often as possible which sounds like a contradiction to the above but it’s really a matter of balance.
I weave awareness of the world into my daily and weekly activities. This means keeping up with the news and sometimes responding to it.
I weave community activism into my life through a group my family founded to resist overdevelopment and degradation of the environment in our town.
I weave all members of my family into my life as much as I can. Today I am hosting a baby shower luncheon for my daughter in law who is soon to give birth to our first grandchild. My daughter is co-hosting.
I really love woven items like baskets and rugs and poems, and talented writers who are weavers and incorporating weaving into my own life in a big way. Yep! Weaving is definitely my OLW for this year.
Here’s a lovely piece about weaving words: https://wordservewatercooler.com/2012/09/10/the-warp-and-woof-of-weaving-stories/
I love the word weave and what a wonderful post and the use of that word! It sounds like a great year has begun!!

Thanks so much. I am very happy with it, and I am soon to become a grandma. So there’s lots more weaving to do.

I think “weave” is the perfect word for you. You are involved in so many activities. You are a viable part of any group you join. You are often the thread holding things together. Great choice.

Thank you for your kind words. I never actually thought of myself quite this way. I do like to bring people together.

Great word! Your slice gave me new ways to think of “weave”. Enjoyed reading and could relate to many ways I “weave” too!

I agree and think it’s the perfect word. Each time I read your post about weave (well, that’s 2 so far) it inspires me of something to write. 🙂
